Exams

Exams

Exams and classroom assessments take place throughout the whole year at MAES, and your tutor will have a conversation with you when they believe that you are ready to take them.

The details of your exam such as the date will be given to you by your tutor and by letter, email or text from the Manchester Adult Education Exam Team.

Learning support and Support in exams

If you usually get help with childcare or travel, and your exam takes place on a different day to your normal class, please let your tutor know and they will complete the ‘Apply for Learner Support Form’ with you.

Some learners may need extra help to perform their best in an exam, this help comes in the form of an Access Arrangement (AAs). If you think you may need support (an access arrangement) to help you in class and for an exam, you need to speak to your tutor who will follow the necessary steps with our Learning Support and Exam teams.

There is a deadline for us to organise additional support with the exam boards so if the correct steps are not done in time, you will not be able to get support for your exam.

Access Arrangements may be used to address medical issues, learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The final decision to grant an Access Arrangement lies with the examining body.
