Course details
The Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities aims to give you the knowledge and understanding to work with individuals with learning disabilities or difficulties. You will explore the principles of safeguarding and positive risk-taking and gain awareness of the autistic spectrum.
If you have an interest in, or are already working with, people with learning disabilities in a variety of roles, this course is for you.
On this course, you will study the following six mandatory units:
- Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
- Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
- Introduction to personalisation in social care
- Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities
- Introductory awareness of Autistic Spectrum Conditions
- Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare.
This course will be delivered online via Google Classroom, and as such you will need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
To be eligible for this course, you should have a Level 1 English and maths qualification.
