Entry 3/Level 1 Award in Employability Skills

This course will prepare you for future employment by developing the skills and awareness needed for job searching and applying for work.
The qualification includes three mandatory units:
Career Planning: This unit will help you to be able to find out about different career options, assess those options and plan goals for your future career. You will select areas of work relevant to your own skills, interests and qualities, and identify actions to be undertaken to work towards career goals.
Searching for a job: This unit will help you to develop the skills needed for job searching. You will develop awareness of online and offline job vacancy information as well as how to identify jobs most suitable for you.
Applying for work: This unit will support you to apply for jobs. You will learn about typical methods/processes associated with job roles/sectors of interest to you, the importance of making a good first impression through your job application and CV as well as the type of information you should be provided by recruiting employers.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
To be eligible for this course, you should be able to demonstrate Entry 3 English skills (speaking, reading, and writing)
You should have experience of using a computer and/or laptop and the internet and ideally have access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
Career and progression routes
After completing this course, you would progress on to further courses with Manchester Adult Education to further your knowledge in the sector you wish to advance or start a career in.
You could also progress in your current role or secure a new job with your new skills and knowledge.
