Maths is an important part of everyday life. It’s connected to how we purchase goods and services, and manage our household spending, to how we measure ingredients, distances, build furniture, and even tell the time.

Studying maths can help how we think and give us the necessary skills to get through life.

Improve your problem-solving skills: Maths helps us think analytically and think about problems logically. Taking the skills that you learn in maths such as identifying the knowns and unknowns and then solving issues can be applied to all areas of life.

Improve your finance literacy: Having good number sense = good money sense. Having a good understanding of maths will help you understand budgeting, saving, and purchasing and will help to make a huge difference in your life.

Gain a qualification: On each of our maths courses, if you pass, you’ll gain a nationally recognised qualification that’s accepted by further and higher education institutions as well as employers in the UK.

Jade – Functional Skills Level 2

Find a maths course that suits your needs

We teach maths at all our adult learning centres. Before you start a course, we will listen to your requirements and carefully assess your skills. Our team of expert tutors will always ensure you join a course at the right level for you.

Available at five different levels from entry to Level 2, with Functional Skills Maths you will start at the right level for you and have the chance to gain nationally recognised Functional Maths qualification.

This is an intensive one-year course for people who are confident in their maths skills but need to gain this national qualification to be able to go on to further studies or employment.

The Level 3 Maths in Context course aims to build on skills learnt at GCSE level and take your learning further. You will develop your skills for specific careers or refine them if you’re planning to study subjects such as Science, Geography, Business, Economics, or social sciences at a higher learning level.

Finance your education

If you claim benefits or have a low income, we may be able to provide financial support to help you complete your course. This support can cover transport, childcare or technology. If you are required to pay for your course, you can also choose to take out an advanced learner loan to help cover any associated fees.
