Course details
If you’re interested in working or volunteering as a teacher, tutor or trainer within adult and community learning, further education and/or work-based training, our Level 3 Award in Teaching and Training Adults can help you gain the necessary skills required.
This introductory qualification covers the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer, how to plan and deliver inclusive sessions and assess learning.
The Level 3 Award in Teaching and Training Adults consists of the following four mandatory units:
Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships of teachers in education and training: The first unit introduces the roles and responsibilities of teachers in education and training. You will explore how to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment, learn about key legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice you need to be aware of as a teacher in the sector and consider how and when you will work with others to meet the needs of learners and carry out your role.
Understanding inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training: The first part of the second unit introduces teaching and learning theories and approaches that are relevant to adult learners. For this unit, you will need to observe an experienced teacher to identify and evaluate the use of different teaching and learning approaches.
Using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training: The second part of unit two introduces planning, and during the sessions, you will be expected to plan, deliver and evaluate a short teaching session.
Understanding assessment in education: This unit explores the importance of assessment in education and training and introduces the different assessment types and methods. You will consider how to involve learners in the assessment process and be able to identify the types of assessment records you may keep.
This course will either be delivered face-to-face in one of our adult learning centres.
For each unit, you will complete assignments that allow you to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experience.
You will also be required to plan, deliver and evaluate a short teaching session in your chosen subject which will be assessed by a qualified tutor.
To be eligible for this course, you should have a Level 2 English and Maths qualification and good digital skills.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
