In today’s digital age, the demand for skilled professionals in networking and cybersecurity is higher than ever. With our Level 3 Certificate in Networking and Cybersecurity, you will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in this dynamic field.
This course is made up of five mandatory units which are listed below:
Unit 1: Networking
You will understand the key components of networks, and learn about the protocols and the services provided by networks. You will also explore the technologies and devices used in networking and be able to design and maintain a secure network.
Unit 2: Network Threats & Vulnerabilities
In this unit you will learn about types and sources of network attacks and develop the skills and understanding needed to plan and protect a network. You will also learn how to configure devices and software to improve network security.
Unit 3: Access Control
By studying this unit, you will understand the purpose and methods of controlling access to systems. You will learn about the concepts of identity, authentication, and authorisation, and explore how they are used to manage access control in organisations.
Unit 4: Ethical Hacking
In unit 4 you will gain an understanding of the role of ethical hacking in testing the security of networks, using techniques such as penetration testing and social engineering. You will also explore some of the tools and techniques used to identify vulnerabilities and the countermeasures that can minimise cyber attacks
Unit 5: Project Management: Networking & Cybersecurity
In this final unit you will understand project management concepts and the processes and tools used by organisations to manage networking and cybersecurity projects. You will learn about project management methodologies and use project management software to plan a networking and cybersecurity project, track progress, and review outcomes to determine project success.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at one of our adult learning centres.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
To be eligible for this course, you should have a minimum Level 2 English and maths qualification and a good level of digital skills.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
