The Level 2 Award in Cybersecurity is great if you would like to learn about the accidental and malicious security threats that exist to IT systems and data.
You will also learn about system vulnerabilities and the tools and techniques used to protect users from risks and potential damage.
The Level 2 Award in Cybersecurity consists of the following four mandatory units:
Understand security protection and risk management issues: This unit looks at the various types of threats to IT systems and data, including internal, external and evolving, as well as help you to explain the factors that affect the vulnerability of IT systems and data.
Understand measures to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats: The second unit looks like developing your knowledge of the different measures that you can take to protect IT systems and data from current and evolving threats. You will also explore different physical security measures used to protect IT systems and data so that you’re able to compare the advantages and disadvantages of these.
Be able to implement measures to protect IT systems and data: Through this unit you will learn how to create a user access control system on a network or operating system to restrict unauthorised access. You will also learn to demonstrate how ethical hacking can be used to protect IT systems and data.
Understand current legal and ethical requirements and IT security policies and procedures: In this final unit you will learn about the current legal requirements and IT security policies and procedures that exist to protect IT systems and data in the UK. This also extends to policies and procedures that exist within organisations. You will also learn about ethical and unethical conduct when using IT systems.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
To be eligible for this course, you should have good Level 1 practical IT skills and IT knowledge. You must be able to speak, read and write English confidently at Level 2.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
