This brand new qualification is designed for those who wish to learn about the principles of computer programming to understand how programming works.
By completing this course, you will develop text-based programming skills allowing you to design and develop your own computer program.
On this course you will:
- Learn the basic principles of computer programming.
- Develop graphic-based programming skills.
- Be able to review and test your newfound programming skills and knowledge.
Take steps towards a career in computer programming.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
To be eligible for this course, you should have, or be working towards, a good Level 1 practical IT skills and IT knowledge. You must be able to speak, read and write English confidently at Level 1.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
Career and progression routes
After completing this course, you could look to progress on a Level 2 Award in Computer Programming or Level 2 Award in Networking.
