The Level 1 Award in Cybersecurity is ideal for you if you would like to learn all about cybercrime and the risks and effects it has on individuals and organisations.
You will get the opportunity to understand forms of cybercrime and motives and know about protective methods to be cyber safe.
The Level 1 Award in Cybersecurity course is made up of the following three mandatory units:
Know about cybercrime: In this unit you will learn about common form of cybercrime including phishing, identity theft, hacking and fraud. You will also learn about the motives behind cybercrime and how it affects individuals and organisations.
Know about protective methods to maintain cybersecurity: Unit 2 focuses on the protective methods to maintain cybersecurity including anti-virus software, firewalls and data protection. You will also learn about user access controls and how to set these up.
Know about legislation and codes of conduct related to cybersecurity: During this unit you will learn about current UK legislation that applies to different IT systems and data. You will also learn about ethical and unethical conduct.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification.
For this course, you will need to have practical IT skills and knowledge at Level 1.
You should also be able to demonstrate Level 1 English skills (speaking & listening, reading, and writing). Our digital skills team will test this during a small assessment to determine the level that is suitable for you.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
