The Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care covers a wide range of core topics that exist within the health and social care sector. Not only has it been designed by subject matter experts, but it also will enable you to access higher education courses or support you’re your progression into the workplace.
On this course, you will be required to complete the following nine mandatory units as well as one extended assessment which covers the ‘core mandatory’ units.
- Unit 1 – Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
- Unit 2 – Human growth and development
- Unit 3 – Safeguarding in health and social care
- Unit 4 – Communication in health and social care
- Unit 5 – Infection prevention and control in health and social care
- Unit 6 – Psychological perspectives in health and social care
- Unit 7 – Sociological perspectives in health and social care
- Unit 8 – Working in health and social care
- Unit 9 – Reflective practice.
This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom at our adult learning centres.
You will access materials and complete assignments via Google Classroom.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification. This may include a work placement report, written assignments, professional discussions, presentations, oral questioning, witness testimonies, reflective accounts and an extended assessment.
To be accepted into this course, you are required to have a minimum level 2 English and maths qualification. GCSE qualifications are preferred.
A work placement, whether paid or voluntary, must also be in place prior to starting the course.
You will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
Career and progression routes
After completing this course, you could be ready to join the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care with us, which is essentially year 2 of the course.
You may also be interested in progressing on to higher education, taking further learning in related subject areas at Level 4 or using your newfound skills and knowledge to gain employment or advance in your current role.
