Before enquiring, please be aware that this apprenticeship is not a job opportunity. It is a learning programme that allows you to combine practical training whilst already employed in a business administration role as part of Manchester City Council’s School Leaver Programme.
Course details
This apprenticeship will allow you the develop a set of highly transferrable set of skills which you will be able to apply to a range of different sectors and roles that interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders.
The essential knowledge, skills and behaviours learnt on this training programme will ensure that you’re qualified and understand the importance of customer service, communication, conflict management, competitive advantage and problem solving.
You can also look to support your own progression towards management responsibilities.
Throughout the course you’ll learn a vast range of knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs).
The KSBs developed on this apprenticeship follow those of the Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship training programme.

Ways to learn include:
- Case studies and scenarios – Analysing real-world situations to develop problem-solving skills.
- Work based learning – You’ll apply learning directly to your workplace and reflect on your practice.
- Collaborative learning – Group discussions, peer observations, and teamwork to share insights and best practices.
- Self-reflection and journals – Keeping a reflective log to track progress and areas for development.
- Mentorship and coaching – Working with experienced educators who guide and support your professional growth.
You will also be required to attend a face-to-face teaching session at Abraham Moss Adult Learning Centre twice weekly. You will also recieve department/employer visits to check on your progress in the workplace.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification. This portfolio will be both internally assessed and you will also be required to undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA).
To be eligible for this course, you should:
- Have not completed a prior Business Administration qualification or similar qualification such as business studies
- Achieve Level 1 and above outcome for English and Maths after a BKSB initial assessment. Functional Skills Level 2 Maths and English can be completed on programme if no evidence is provided if prior qualifications.
- Be in employment in a Business Administration role with Manchester City Council through their 16-19 School Leavers programme.
