The Level 1 Award in Awareness of Substance Misuse is an ideal introductory course for those who want to increase their awareness of substance misuse. On this course you will develop a knowledge and understanding of substance misuse awareness – including alcohol – and its potential effects on individuals and others.
On this course, you will be required to complete a unit called Develop an awareness of substance misuse.
This unit covers the following:
- Substances that are commonly misused and why
- The personal and social effects of substance misuse
- The perceptions of and responses to substance misuse
- Ways to promote healthy choices and build resilience.
This course will be delivered online via Google Classroom, and as such, you will need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
For this course, you will be required to create a portfolio of evidence meeting the assessment criteria for the qualification and some assessed skills practice where you take it in turns to be a counsellor, a client and an observer.
To be accepted into this course, you are required to have a minimum level 1 English qualification.
As this course is taught online, you will also need access to a device (laptop or computer) at home and reliable Wi-Fi. You can apply to our Chromebook loan system if you do not have a suitable device.
